The Burning Bed

The Burning Bed is a television movie about a battered Michigan housewife, Francine Hughes, who was prosecuted for the murder of her husband on March 9 1977 to stop thirteen years of abuse. She killed him by setting him on fire while he slept. Hughes told the three of her children to put on their coats and wait in the car. She then started a fire with gasoline and a match. When she left, the house burst into flames broken out while she and the children drove away. She drove to the police station and to her lawyer and told them how much she loved him back when they met in the summer of 1963. Burning Bed, The
