The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas

The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas is a stage and film musical. The stage musical opened in 1978 and the film was released in 1982. Both versions feature songs by Carol Hall; the movie version also featured two songs by its star, Dolly Parton, including "I Will Always Love You", which would be recorded by Whitney Houston a decade later, becoming a huge hit. The movie version also starred Burt Reynolds. The original Broadway cast starred Carlin Glynn and Henderson Forsythe. The story is about a whorehouse in Texas in the late 1970's. It has operated for more than a century but a crusading television reporter calls for it to be shut down, leading to its demise.
