TerrahawksTerrahawks is a puppet based television series created by Gerry Anderson. It ran for two seasons during 1983 and 1984 and a total of 39 25-minute episodes were created. Gerry Anderson was best known for his Supermarionation TV series of the 1960s, which made use of electronically augmented marionettes. Terrahawks was his first puppet series since The Secret Service in 1969, and a new process called Supermacronation was used to animate the characters in Terrahawks. The series is set in the year 2020, after an alien force has destroyed NASA's Mars base and Earth is under threat. A small organization called Terrahawks is set up to defend the planet. From a secret base (Hawknest) in South America, they develop sophisticated weapons to prepare for the battles to come. Terrahawks consists of five human members; Dr. 'Tiger' Ninestein, Capt. Mary Falconer, Capt. Kate Kestrel, Lt. Hawkeye and Lt. Hiro who are supported by spherical robots, called Zeroids. Two of the Zeroids are more intelligent and independent and are considered individuals. They are Sergeant Major Zero and Space Sergeant 101, ground and space commanders of the Zeroids respectively. The aliens were in fact androids who had rebelled against their creators. They were led by Zelda, and included Cy-star, Yung-star and Birlgoy (Goybirl). The counterpart alien robots were the Cubes. In a nice production touch, during the end credits, the Zeroid and Cube robots would often "play" noughts and crosses (tic-tac-toe) with each other, resulting in a different winner each week.
