Teemu Selnne

Teemu Ilmari Selnne (born July 3, 1970), "The Finnish Flash," began his NHL career with the Winnipeg Jets. He and his twin brother, Paavo, were born in Helsinki, Finland. A former kindergarten teacher, he was selected by the Jets 10th overall in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft. He scored 76 goals in his rookie season, an all-time record. On February 7, 1996, he was traded to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. Selnne teamed up with Paul Kariya to form one of the most potent scoring duos in the NHL. On March 5, 2001, Selnne was again traded, this time to the San Jose Sharks. Known for his speed, Selnne also has great hands and a remarkable ability to put the puck in the net. He's also a fan favorite as he has a bright, friendly personality. After a disappointing season in San Jose, Selnne signed with the Colorado Avalanche as a free agent on July 3, 2003 where he was again joined by Kariya. After another mediocre season (2003-2004) in Colorado, Teemu is again a free agent, who has yet to sign a contract with any team, possibly due to the current NHL work stoppage. Selnne married Sirpa Vuorinen on July 19, 1996; they have 3 sons: Eemil, Eetu, and Leevi. Selnne, Teemu Selnne, Teemu Selnne, Teemu Selnne, Teemu Selnne, Teemu Selnne, Teemu
