Tectonics

Tectonics is an architectural discourse derived from the conceptual origins of architecture itself. The concept of tectonics as a distinct philosophy of architecture emerged in the mid 1800s in Germany and France. The term is derived from the greek tekton, meaning building, a social role which lead to the development of the arkitekton, the basis for our modern understanding of the Architect. Derived from the Tectonic are architectonics and plate_tectonics.
