Tai Po

Tai Po district (大埔區; lit. "big steps") is one of the 18 districts of Hong Kong. It is located in the New Territories. Population (2000): 321,500. Like Yuen Long, Tai Po used to be a traditional market town. Tai Po New town has now a population of approximately 282,000 people. Upon full development, the population is expected to reach 283,000.

Transportation

This district is served by Tolo Highway, KCR East Rail and Tai Po Road. It is remindable that 71B, which runs between Fu Heng and Tai Po Centre, is the cheapest route in Hong Kong, with the fare of just HK$1.2 (US15c). Also, E41 (Long Win Bus), which runs between Tai Po Tau and Hong Kong International Airport is the cheapest bus route per kilometre.
