T-800

In the fictional universe of the Terminator movies, the T-800 (full designation: Cyberdyne Systems Model 101 Series 800-850) was to be the ultimate weapon devised by the military supercomputer Skynet to be used against the remaining human resistance. It was thought that a machine designed to the specifications of the human skeleton, and subsequently wrapped in specially grown flesh and tissue, would be able to infiltrate military structures disguised as a human and, subsequently, terminate human life from within the outpost. Every aspect of this android is geared toward infiltration without detection. Not only does it look human, but it sweats, smells, and can even mimic specific human voices perfectly. However, dogs can sense the machine's presence and are often used at guarded checkpoints to detect one entering the area. To aid in its role as a killer, its endoskeleton is constructed from a hyperalloy combat-chassis, and thus is rendered essentially immune to small arms fire (pistols, rifles, etc.) The first incarnation of the Terminator was the T-600 series, which possessed rubber skin. However, these were detected easily. In time, they were replaced by the 800 series. A Series 800 Terminator, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, was the antagonist in the original Terminator film and the protagonist of the second and third Terminator films along with a Future War counterpart played by Franco Columbu. TCSM-101 was revealed in T3 to be the clone of U.S. Marine Chief Master Sergeant William Candy. Subsequent improvements were made on these models, including the T-1000 series (featured in , in conflict with a reprogrammed T-800, again played by Schwarzenegger), which eschewed the use of a solid base and was constructed of a unique polymimetic alloy. These Terminators consisted of a 'liquid metal' and could change shape and appearance at will. To imitate another person, they required direct physical contact, and would often terminate those they copied so their disguise would not be foiled. This Terminator never made it past the prototype stage, as it was found that although it was virtually invulnerable to firearms, its susceptibility to extremes of temperature posed too much of a risk. This was discovered after it was frozen with liquid nitrogen and shattered. Although it thawed and reformed itself, it exhibited 'glitches' in its disguise, which would make it stand out. It was finally destroyed when it was dissolved in a boiling vat of molten steel. The T-1000 was later discontinued. The final Terminators were the T-X (Terminatrix) series (featured in ), which consisted of an impenetrable metal endoskeleton surrounded by a polymimetic sheath. They were also capable of controlling other machines using nanotechnology and remote control, and even had an onboard weapons platform. What essentially separates these machines from the earlier models is that their role is not so much to terminate humans, but to dominate other machines thus making them the commanding generals of Skynet's army.
