Swedish Civil Aviation Administration

The Swedish Civil Aviation Administration, or Luftfartsverket was until 2005 the Swedish Government agency which regulated and oversaw all aspects of aviation in Sweden. On 2005-01-01, Luftfartsverket was was split up and a new authority, the Swedish Civil Aviation Authority, was formed:
  • The Swedish Civil Aviation Administration (retains the name Luftfartsverket) manages state-owned airports and air traffic control.
  • The Swedish Civil Aviation Authority (Luftfartsstyrelsen) regulates the aviation market and oversees safety aspects.
