Swami Kriyananda

J. Donald Walters, better known as Swami Kriyananda, a direct disciple of Paramahansa Yogananda during the last few years of Yogananda's life until the latter's death in 1952. Kriyananda parted from the Self-Realization Fellowship to pursue his own vision of the task he saw entrusted to him by Yogananda, namely the creation of cooperative communities based on spiritual principles. Known as world brotherhood colonies, these were established in the United States and in Assisi, Italy under the name Ananda. Kriyananda has published several books and musical works, primarily related to the spirtual path. Crystal Clarity Publishers, and the East-West Book shops in Sacramento, Seattle, Mountain View (CA), are also founded by Kriyananda.
