Svenska Cupen

The Svenska Cupen (the "Swedish Cup") is the main Swedish football Cup, which is qualifiyng for the UEFA Cup. Each year (since the new rules with less teams came) the 16 teams from Allsvenskan (the All Swedish League - first level of Swedish football) and the 14 teams of Superettan (the Super Division 1 - second level of Swedish football) together with 68 teams from lower (district) series play the Cup.

The rounds and teams

  • First round - 68 teams (level 3 and below)
  • Second round - 64 teams (34 from first round + the Allsvenskan and the Superettan teams)
  • Third round - 32 teams
  • Fourth round - 16 teams
  • Fifth round - quarter finals
  • Sixth round - semi finals
  • Seventh round - final
Winner qualifies for the qualification round of the UEFA Cup.

How district teams qualify for the Swedish Cup

There are a number of districts in the Swedish football organisation, and each of theme recives a number of spots in the Swedish Cup, due to how many licensed players they have. For an example, Vrmlands FF recives three spots and Vstergtlands FF recives seven spots.
