Sun Gridengine

Sun GridEngine (SGE) is an opensource batch-queuing system, supports by Sun Microsystems, that allocates resources such as processors, memory, disk-space, and software licenses to batch jobs. The main features of SGE include:
  • Advanced scheduling algorithms
  • Cluster queues
  • Fault tolerance
  • Job arrays
  • DRMAA (Job API)
  • Resource reservation
  • N1 Grid Engine 6 accounting and reporting
A number of SGE add-ons are available:
  • Grid engine portal
  • Transfer-queue over globus (TOG)
  • Job scheduling hierarchically (JOSH)
SGE runs on multiple platforms, including: The next release of SGE (6.0u4) will also add Windows support.
