Geography Summit is located at 45°18'13" North, 97°2'14" West (45.303743, -97.037106). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.0 km² (0.4 mi²). 1.0 km² (0.4 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water. Summit has been assigned the ZIP code 57266 and the FIPS place code 62220. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 281 people, 119 households, and 74 families residing in the town. The population density is 285.5/km² (747.2/mi²). There are 144 housing units at an average density of 146.3/km² (382.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 83.63% White, 0.00% African American, 14.23% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 2.14% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 119 households out of which 31.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.5% are married couples living together, 13.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 37.0% are non-families. 31.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
