Sulejman Tihic

Sulejman Tihić (b. November 26, 1951) is a member of the rotating Presidency of Bosnia, representing that nation's Bosniak community. He became a member October 2002. He has been chairman of the presidency since February 28, 2004. Tihić was born in Bosanski Šamac, northern Bosnia. He got his degree in Law from the University of Sarajevo. In 1990., he was one of the founding members of the Bosniak Party of Democratic Action (SDA). From 1994 to 1999 he served as a diplomat in the Bosnian Foreign Ministry, in the rang of Minister Counsellor. On October 13, 2001, Tihić was chosen to succeed Alija Izetbegović as head of the SDA party. He was elected to the Presidency on October 5, 2002. He is married, with three children.
