Student Federation Of The University Of Ottawa

The Student Federation of the University of Ottawa (also known as The Fed) is a not-for-profit organization, incorporated under the Corporations' Act of Ontario since September 1st, 1969. The SFUO has been around ever since the beginning of the University of Ottawa They even had a building named after one of its executive members. Francis-James "Jock" Turcot was a President, the first one to have the idea to open a student centre. Unfortunately, Jock Turcot died in a car accident on Christmas Eve, 1964. To celebrate his memory, the University Centre, built a few years later, was named Jock-Turcot University Centre. Recently, as of Fall 2004 the Federation became a member of the Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance.
