Straperlo

Straperlo or stra-perlo is a Spanish term referring to a fraudulent business activity, usually involving abusive prices. The origin of the term is from the names Strauss and Perlowitz, the promoters of a fraudulent electric roulette game. Corruption connected with the prohibition of the game caused the downfall of the Radical Party and contributed fall of the Spanish Republic and the start of the Spanish Civil War.
