Stefan Heym

Stefan Heym (April 10, 1913 - December 16, 2001 ) was a German - Jewish writer, who was born in Chemnitz and died in Israel. Stefan Heym wrote the modern European classic Der Knig David Bericht,(1972) (English title: The King David Report (1973)). He also wrote the books The Wandering Jew (1984) and Schwarzenberg (1984). Stefan Heym was a name used as a pseudonym. His real name was Hellmuth Flieg. He died in Jerusalem. He was conferred the Jerusalem Prize 'for the freedom of the individual in society' in (1993).
