Stanisław Żłkiewski, (1547—7 October 1620) was a noble (szlachcic) of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, magnate, Field Crown Hetman from 1588 to 1613, castellan of Lww from 1590, voivode of Kyiv from 1608, Great Crown Hetman from 1613 to 1620, Great Crown Chancellor from 1618. During his lifetime he won major military victories against Muscovy, the Ottoman Empire and Tatars. In 1607 he defeated rokoszan forces near Guzow. In 1610 he was victorious at Kłuszyn. He captured Moscow and the tsar Vasiliy Shuyskiy during the Dymitriads. Supported the election of Władysław IV Waza for tsar and the idea of personal union between the Commonwealth and Muscovy. From 1612 mentor of future hetman, Stanisław Koniecpolski. Died on 7th October 1620 during the battle of Cecora against the Turks in Moldova near Prut river, during the Moldavian Magnate Wars.
