St. John's Northwestern Military Academy
St. John's Northwestern Military Academy
originated as St. John's Military Academy, which was founded in
Delafield, Wisconsin
in
1884
by
Dr. Sidney T. Smythe
, who saw the need for a
preparatory school
to prepare boys for
college
and
life
.
History
Originally a
high school
(grades 9-12), the seventh and eighth grades were added after
World War II
. In
1995
, St. John's merged with the former
Northwestern Military and Naval Academy
in
Lake Geneva, Wisconsin
, to form St. John's Northwestern Military Academy. Still located on the original site in Delafield, St. John's is one of the oldest and most prestigious boys-only
military
high schools in the
United States
