Sriharikota

Sriharikota is an island off the coast of Andhra Pradesh in India. It houses the Sriharikota Launching Range (SHAR), used by the Indian space agency, ISRO, to launch satellites using multi-stage rockets. The facility consists of two launch pads, the second recently built. The second launch pad will be used along with the first for launches begining in 2005. India's lunar orbiter 'Chandrayaan 1' will be launched from this launch location in 2007-2008.
