Squad

A squad is a small military unit subordinate to an infantry platoon. In most armies a squad consists of eight to twelve soldiers, sometimes as many as fourteen, and may be further subdivided into fire teams. In British and Canadian armies, the equivalent organization is a section. In the United States Army, a squad is composed of two fire teams, or eight to ten soldiers. In the United States Marine Corps, a squad is typically composed of three fire teams and a squad leader who is a junior non-commissioned officer.
