Springdale is a town located in Stevens County, Washington. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 283.

History

Springdale was officially incorporated on February 9, 1903.

Geography

  is located at 48°3'26" North, 117°44'37" West (48.057151, -117.743749). 
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.6 km² (1.0 mi²). 2.6 km² (1.0 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 283 people, 100 households, and 74 families residing in the town. The population density is 108.2/km² (279.7/mi²). There are 109 housing units at an average density of 41.7/km² (107.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 93.99% White, 0.71% African American, 0.71% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.71% Pacific Islander, 0.35% from other races, and 3.53% from two or more races. 3.18% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 100 households out of which 39.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.0% are married couples living together, 23.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 26.0% are non-families. 23.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.77 and the average family size is 3.23. In the town the population is spread out with 35.0% under the age of 18, 6.0% from 18 to 24, 24.0% from 25 to 44, 23.0% from 45 to 64, and 12.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 116.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 102.2 males. The median income for a household in the town is $28,333, and the median income for a family is $27,188. Males have a median income of $31,875 versus $16,563 for females. The per capita income for the town is $10,412. 34.1% of the population and 24.7% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 45.1% of those under the age of 18 and 5.9% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
