Southcote, Berkshire

Southcote is a suburb of Reading in the English county of Berkshire.

History

The suburb of Southcote has been built largely on the lands of Southcote Manor. The manor house no longer exists, but was once home to both John Blagrave, the famous tudor mathematician, and his nephew Daniel Blagrave, Member of Parliament for Reading and signatory of King Charles I's death warrant.

Government

Southcote is part of the Borough of Reading, which is responsible for all aspects of local government. It is within the Reading West parliamentary constituency.
