South Wales

South Wales is an area of Wales bordered by England and the Bristol Channel to the East and South, and Mid Wales and West Wales to the North and West. The exact extent of the area is loosely-defined, but incorporates the cities of Cardiff and Newport, the South Wales Valleys (and the Brecon Beacons National Park), and Monmouthshire. The western border of the region is sometimes defined to include Swansea, and the northern boundary is usually taken as Builth Wells or the border of Powys. The state of New South Wales in Australia is named after the area.
