Smertios

In Celtic mythology, Smertios or Smertrius was a god of war particularly worshipped in Gaul. In Roman times he was equated with Mars and Hercules. He is linguistically related to the goddess Rosmerta. In art, he was depicted as a bearded man with a club, often about to kill a snake.
