Skeppsholmen

Skeppsholmen is one of the islands of Stockholm. It is connected with Blasieholmen and Kastellholmen by bridges. Positioned strategically at the Baltic Sea entrance to Stockholm it has traditionally been a place of military buildings. Nowadays the military presence is rather low and the art museum Moderna muset is dominant instead. It is the main modern art museum of Stockholm. In the same building is also an architecture museum. The island also is host to stasiatiska Muset (in English: East-Asian museum). At the southern shore is an old sailing ship named af Chapman which is used as a youth hostel these days. You get there by foot from Kungstrdgrden past Grand Hotel and Nationalmuseum, by bus number 65 the very same way or by steam boat from Slussen, Djurgrden or Nybroplan. Stockholm Jazz Festival is a popular annual summer event at Skeppsholmen.
