Silkwood

Silkwood is a 1983 film which tells the true story of Karen Silkwood, who died under suspicious circumstances while investigating wrongdoings at the nuclear plant where she worked. It stars Meryl Streep, Kurt Russell, Cher, Craig T. Nelson, Diana Scarwid, Fred Ward and Ron Silver. The movie was written by Alice Arlen and Nora Ephron. It was directed by Mike Nichols and filmed in the Dallas, Texas area. It was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actress in a Leading Role (Meryl Streep), Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Cher), Best Director, Best Film Editing and Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen.
