Sig P239The Sig-Sauer P239 is a semi-automatic pistol designed for "personal protection". It is offered in 3 calibers: 9mm, .357SIG, and .40S&W. With an overall length of 6.6 in. and height of 5.2 in., and weighing approx. 25-27 oz. empty (depending on caliber), the P239 has become quite popular in the United States as a concealed carry pistol. Magazine capacity is 8 rounds (9mm) or 7 rounds (.357SIG or .40S&W). The actions available are double action only (DAO) or double/single action (DA/SA). Like all SIG semi-automatic pistols, the P239 features a decocking lever that allows full safe carry with a round in the chamber with a DA/SA action. This means the first round can be fired only by a positive trigger pull and with a classically long double action trigger pull. Subsequent rounds will be in single action mode, with the pistol using recoil to cock the pistol automatically.
