Siege (Band)

Siege formed in 1983 in Weymouth, Massachusetts. Siege was part of the 1980s Boston hardcore punk scene. Many credit Siege as the pioneering grindcore band; others credit the UK band Napalm Death, who coined the term 'grindcore'. Siege's original lineup consisted of: In addition to Boston gigs, Siege played gigs in western Massachusetts with local hardcore bands DYS, Cancerous Growth, The Freeze, Outpatients, and Deep Wound. Siege also played a New York City show at CBGBs with The Necros Siege's only official original release was 3 songs on Pushead's classic 1985 hardcore compilation called Cleanse the Bacteria. Siege's 6-song 1984 demo tape produced by Lou Giordano (Negative FX, S.S.Decontrol, Proletariat) has also been extensively bootlegged. Siege's 3 songs from the Cleanse the Bacteria compilation and 6-song demo were released by Relapse Records in 1994 as the Drop Dead CD. The same material was released on 12" vinyl in 2004 by Deep Six Records.
