Shogun Assassin

Shogun Assassin is a very violent jidaigeki movie from 1980. It is known for being referenced to in Kill Bill vol. 2, in the end scenes where the protagonist and her daughter watch it as a bed-time story. Shogun Assassin contains bits and parts of Kozure Ōkami: Kowokashi udekashi tsukamatsuru (1972) and Kozure Ōkami: Sanzu no kawa no ubaguruma (1972), known in English as Lone Wolf and Cub part I and Lone Wolf and Cub part II. The movie Shogun Assassin was dubbed to English whereas the original was in Japanese. The assassin, Lone Wolf and Cub depicted in Shogun Assassin, is played by Tomisaburo Wakayama, brother of Shintarō Katsu, known as the original actor in the Zatoichi films from the 1960's.
