Sherman County is a county located in the state of Texas. As of 2000, the population is 3,186. Its county seat is Stratford ⁶. The county is named for Sidney Sherman who fought in the Texas Revolution.

In the county, the population is spread out with 31.40% under the age of 18, 7.00% from 18 to 24, 26.50% from 25 to 44, 21.50% from 45 to 64, and 13.60% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 102.50 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 95.70 males. The median income for a household in the county is $33,179, and the median income for a family is $38,821. Males have a median income of $27,481 versus $21,036 for females.
