Sherbet (Band)

Sherbet was one of the most prominent Australian rock bands of the 1970s. They formed in Sydney in 1969 and released their first single the following year. From then until 1984 they released fifteen Top 10 hits in Australia, including one number one, Howzat in 1976, which also reached number four in the UK. From 1978, the band spent several years attempting (without success) to make an impact in the United States, where they were marketed as Highway. This material was released in Australia under the name The Sherbs. Following the group's break-up, lead singer Daryl Braithwaite went on to a successful solo career in Australia. Sherbet's manager Roger Davies began his career as a roadie with cult Australian band Company Caine. After Sherbet split in 1981, Davies moved to the United States, where he managed Olivia Newton-John for some time before becoming the manager of singer Tina Turner and helping her to launch her solo career. His company, Roger Davies World Management, currently also manages Cher, Sade, Pink, Joe Cocker and Tony Joe White.
