physicist
. He is a professor at
Harvard University
's department of physics. He, along with
Steven Weinberg
and
Abdus Salam
, is the mastermind of the
electroweak
theory, for which he won the
1979
Nobel Prize in Physics
. He achieved a
Bachelor of Arts
degree from
Cornell University
in
1954
and received a Ph. D. degree in physics from
Harvard University
in
1959
. Glashow is a notable opponent of
Superstring
theory.
