Sharchop

Sharchop is a collective term for the indigenious tribals of Bhutan, who constitute around 20% of population. Due to the fact that they are descended from the early waves of Tibetans from Tibet, many of them are pushed south of the country. This may or may not include the aboroginie Monpa, Gongduk, Lhop, Lepcha and several other tribal groups. Most Sharchops follow Tibetan Buddhism with some elements of Bn, although those who live in the Duars follow Animism and Hinduism. This included the Toro people.
