, named after the river Sesia. It was formed in 1802, when
Napoleon Bonaparte
occupied the
Kingdom of Sardinia
. Its capital was
Vercelli
. It was divided into the
arrondissements
of Vercelli,
Biella
and
Santhi
. It was disbanded after the defeat of Napoleon in 1814. Its territory is presently divided over the Italian provinces
Vercelli
and
Biella
.
