Sermo Lupi Ad AnglosSermo Lupi ad Anglos (Sermon of the Wolf to the English) was an address given by Wulfstan II, Archbishop of York to his congregation, delivered in Old English, in approximately 1000 CE. In this address, Wulfstan warns his listeners of dire consequences, particularly the threat of foreign conquest, if they do not strive to live pious Christian lives. He draws an analogy between the England of his day and Britain at the time of Gildas, suggesting that the Anglo-Saxon conquest of Britain was due partly to sin on the part of the Britons, and that the Anglo-Saxons themselves now face a similar fate.
