Serbia And Montenegro National Football Team

The Serbia and Montenegro national football team is the national team of Serbia and Montenegro and is controlled by the Football Association of Serbia and Montenegro. It was previously known as the Yugoslavia national football team. This article refers to the team after the split of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, as the national team of first Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and then Serbia and Montenegro. Although the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was formed on April 28, 1992, because of the civil wars, the football team didn't play its first match until 23 December, 1994, when they lost to Brazil. Since the split, the team has qualified for the World Cup once, in 1998, and for the European Championship once, in 2000. In 2003, with the renaming of the country, the team assumed its current name.
