Scott Niedermayerright Scott Niedermayer (born August 31 1973, in Edmonton, Alberta) is a professional ice hockey hockey player with the New Jersey Devils in the NHL. Standing 6'1, 200 pounds, Niedermayer is considered to be one of the top defencemen in the league. Niedermayer has played all 12 of his NHL seasons for New Jersey. He has been selected to three All-Star Games (1998, 2001 and 2004), and has also won 3 Stanley Cups (1995, 2000, and 2003) . Scott was drafted in the first round of the 1991 NHL Entry Draft by New Jersey with the third overall selection from the Kamloops Blazers of the Western Hockey League (WHL), and was considered one of the most promising and offensively talented defencemen ever drafted out of the CHL. Blessed with supreme natural hockey skills, Niedermayer's outstanding mobility, great speed, and almost unapparelled skating ability have also allowed him to turn into a defensive artist as well, making him an elite two-way force on defence. He routinely participates in the Fastest Skater competition at the NHL All-Star Game and is respected and recognized throughout the league for his incredible phyiscal conditioning and work ethic. From an offensive standpoint, his best season was during the 1997-98 campaign when he had 57 points on 14 goals and 43 assists. In 2004, Niedermayer was rewarded for his excellent all-around performance, winning the James Norris Memorial Trophy, which is awarded to the best defenceman in the NHL at the culmination of the regular-season and playoffs.
