Scott Miller

Scott Miller is a game programmer, producer, and level designer who is probably most famous for founding Apogee Software in 1987 and co-founding Gathering of Developers in 1998. He has also been recognized as a strong proponent of shareware. Miller began writing computer games in 1975 on a Wang 2000 while living in Australia. He wrote several DOS games that circulated widely on BBS file bases: The latter was the series that launched Apogee Software in 1987. In 1990, Miller quit his job to focus on Apogee full-time. The company had formed a shareware partnership with id Software and so he was credited as a producer for many of id's early games, including several of the Commander Keen games and Wolfenstein 3D. He also helped in level design in some games, including Duke Nukem. As of 2005, he is currently an owner of Apogee (including 3D Realms and Pinball Wizards).
