Scott Hall

This article is about the Professional wrestler. For information on the Leeds suburb, see Scott Hall, England.
Scott Oliver Hall (born October 20, 1958 in Miami, Florida) is a professional wrestler whose career was at its peak in the 1990s. He wrestled for several organizations during this time, most notably World Wrestling Entertainment, then known as the World Wrestling Federation, and World Championship Wrestling.

Career in World Wrestling Entertainment

Hall wrestled in the then WWF as a character named Razor Ramon, a Cuban-American immigrant, who was modeled after Al Pacino's character from the movie Scarface. He gained considerable popularity, and won the Intercontinental Title on four occations. His Ladder match with Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania X for that title is considered a classic. Later, as Hall was leaving for WCW, he and three other wrestlers (Shawn Michaels, Hunter Hearst Helmsley and Kevin Nash) broke character and celebrated in the ring together without authorization. The four were known, along with Sean Waltman, as the Clique. Hall returned to the WWE after Vince McMahon purchased WCW in a redux of the nWo angle. The angle was plagued with writing problems and ultimately a resurgence of Hall's alcoholism resulted in his release.

Career in World Championship Wrestling

He first appeared in WCW in the early 1990s after a stint with the Minneapolis-based American Wrestling Association. During his first run in WCW, his most recognizable character was "The Diamond Studd". He eventually jumped to the WWF, where he found his first major success. One of the mannerisms of his Diamond Studd character, namely walking to ringside with a toothpick in his mouth and spitting it out in the ring, was carried over when he became Razor Ramon in the WWF. Hall's first appearance on WCW television after leaving the WWF was an unannounced interview where he appeared in street clothes claiming to be "an outsider". He was then joined in the following weeks by Kevin Nash claiming they were going to commit a hostile take over of WCW. The angle directly paralleled the real-life competition between the WCW and WWE. At the following Pay Per View The Outsiders along with a mystery partner took on Sting, Lex Luger and "The Macho Man" Randy Savage. The mystery partner turned out to be Hulk Hogan and the three formed the nWo or New World Order. The group and stormed WCW enlisting such stars as Syxx (X-Pac), The Giant (Big Show), and many many more. The group took off in popularity and consisted of the majority of WCW television for years to come. After the nWo angle, Hall enjoyed some stints as a singles wrestler, but drugs and criminal convictions ruined his career. Despite this, his popularity continued to skyrocket. WCW capitalized on this and continued to drop his name on televised events months after he had been taken off television. This habit even got to the point where at a Pay Per View event there was a match between Kevin Nash and Bill Goldberg for Scott Hall's contract.

Current

Hall now works for TNA Wrestling, in which he has recently paired up with Kevin Nash. Hall is now taking a hiatus from the company to get his life in order.
