saphira

Saphira is the blue dragon of Eragon the Dragon Rider in Christopher Paolini's Inheritance trilogy. Since Eragon is the Rider associated with her, they are telepathically linked. Paolini stated that her name is derived from 'sapphire', the blue-jewel. She also may be named after a Biblical character referenced in Acts 5:1 -- "But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession."
