Santa Fee And St. Johns Railway

Florida state law chapter 3653, approved February 12, 1885, incorporated the Santa Fee and St. Johns Railway Company, owned by George M. Whetstone, J. L. Davis, William T. Weeks, William O. Tison, A. M. Powell, Thomas Sweat, William H. Edwards, Samuel B. Rhodes, Mathew L. McKinny, Volney J. Shipman, Thomas J. Burrin and Simon J. Temple, The railroad was promised land grants along its line, as long as it began construction within one year and finished within five years.
