Sancerre

Sancerre is one of the most famous white wines in France. Sancerre is a valley within the Loire region of France. Typical wines are made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes primarily on limestone based soil. Has Appellation d'Origine Contrle(AOC) standing. Is often described as having subtle flinty notes derived from it's terroir. Frequently dry with citrus nose (often grapefruit). Sancerre is produced in 15 villages. The wines coming from Bu and Chavignol are considered by many to be the best. Recommended vintage is 2003.
