The shorter Little San Bernardino Mountains extend southeast from the range along the eastern side of the Coachella Valley Most of the range is located within the San Bernardino National Forest. The San Gorgonio Wilderness is located in the southeast corner of the range. The range is the location of Big Bear Lake, Crestline and Lake Arrowhead, three popular recreational destinations in the Los Angeles area.
