Ssc Napoli

SSC Napoli was an Italian football club based in Naples. The club was formed in 1926 and spent most of its history in Serie A, often being the sole representative of the Italian South in the country's top division. Players who played for Napoli include Guillermo Stbile, Jos Altafini, Dino Zoff, Diego Maradona, Careca, Ciro Ferrara, Laurent Blanc, Gianfranco Zola, and Fabio Cannavaro. It was Maradona who put Napoli on the world soccer map, leading them to scudettos in 1987 and 1990 and the UEFA Cup in 1989. They also won the Coppa Italia in 1962, 1976, and 1987. Napoli dropped to Serie B in 2001, but that was not the worst to come. With a debt estimated up to 70 million euros, the club went bankrupt in August of 2004. A new club, Napoli Soccer, was born and currently plays in Serie C1/B. Napoli, SSC
