SRV record
or
Service record
is a category of data in the
Internet
Domain Name System
specifying information on available services (e.g.
NICNAME
,
LDAP
, or - as supported by a only minority of
MTAs
as of
2004
-
SMTP
). It is defined in RFC 2782. SRV record support is required of the
DNS
servers in
Microsoft
Active Directory
-based networks, as SRV records are used to locate the
LDAP
and
Kerberos
services.
