RubiaceaeSee text For a full list, see: List of Rubiaceae genera The Rubiaceae Juss. 1789, are a family of dicotyledon plants, variously called the madder, bedstraw, or coffee family. Other plants placed here include the cinchona, partridgeberry, gambier, ixora, and aal. A number of formerly accepted families, Dialypetalanthaceae, Henriqueziaceae, Naucleaceae and Theligonaceae, have now been included within the family Rubiaceae following research by the Angiosperm Phylogeny Group. As now circumscribed, there are about 600 genera and more than 10,000 species in the Rubiaceae. The family is subdivided in three subfamilies; Rubioideae, Cinchonoideae, and Ixoroideae.
