Rosie Ruiz

Rosie Ruiz is an American runner who on April 21, 1980 finished as the first woman in the Boston Marathon in a record time of 2:31:56. However, race officials determined that she had not completed the entire 26.2-mile race, but had jumped in from the crowd and sprinted to the finish. Ruiz continues to deny any cheating, but the official female winner was Jacqueline Gareau of Canada at 2:34:28.
