Rosherville Gardens

Rosherville gardens in gravesend were botanical gardens with animals a bit like Kew is today . Opened in 1842, the Rosherville Gardens were a favourite destination of thousands of Londoners during good weather, many travelling by paddle steamer down the Thames. It is believed that the coming of the railways led to the downfall of the Gardens, as Londoners were now able to reach the coastal resorts such as Margate and Southend
