Richard Flanagan

Richard Flanagan is a controversial author and director from Tasmania, Australia. One of his books, The Sound of One Hand Clapping, was made into a film (also directed by Flanagan) in 1998. He came to attention in 2004, when, after the death of popular former Premier Jim Bacon, he published an article that was very critical of the Bacon government and its relations with corporate interests in the state. Many Tasmanians thought it was inappropriate to make such comments shortly after Bacons death.
