Rhizoid

Rhizoids, in fungi, are small branching hyphae that grow downwards from the stolons that anchors the fungus; they release digestive enzymes, and absorbs digested organic material. Rhizoids, in bryophytes, are root-like structures that anchors the plant to the ground.
